L.184

This lamp by R. Ditmar is not an extraordinary lamp in itself. Zinc casting from the Historism period, combined with a glass font and a Ditmar burner. The base consists of a simple, thin slate plate. Probably made around 1875-1880.

The base of the lamp is shown in the Ditmar catalogue 1897, as lamp 6177; but there with a different, faceted cut font. The font on this lamp is also shown as no. 7083, so the combination is completely by Ditmar. The font here is partly strangely matt white on the inside, as if it had been etched in some way. My efforts to clean it (also with lime remover) were not successful.

Sometime later I was able to complete the lamp almost entirely with two more Ditmar parts: The Paris shade and the globe holder came from Austria with other Ditmar parts.
