A fine British, fully silver-plated lamp that came to me only after some time. The Duplex burner, also silver-plated, no longer had a cap and gallery. The burner was from Parker & Co. whose caps are somewhat larger compared to other Duplex caps. I knew very well that it would not be possible to find a replacement cap. Also, the collar was not the usual bayonet type, but threaded. I was aware that I would have had to silver a Duplex burner with a threaded connection myself. Despite these concerns, I did buy the lamp on the third try.

As expected, I was unable to replace the missing upper part (cap and gallery) of the burner. I also could not find a nickel-plated Duplex burner with a thread. Instead, I bought a normal Duplex burner with thread and silver-plated it myself. The result is not bad at all, I think.

The lamp is a fine British lamp with an elaborately built, completely silver-plated lamp body, very probably for an upper social class. The silvering is very well preserved. Most likely the lamp was electrified at some point, as the sheet metal under the base has a round hole and there is a soldered spot at the top of the column. There were also three small feet attached to the base to allow an electric cable to be inserted from below. These three feet were not even soldered equidistantly to each other and disturbed the overall appearance of the lamp (4 handles at the top, but only three feet at the bottom), therefore I carefully sawed them off.

The lamp bears no hallmark or company logos, which is not common for silver-plated lamps from Great Britain (it could be that they were attached to the cut-out sheet metal part at the base).

An equally fine British tulip shade completed the lamp in a very stylish way.
