An exceptional German lamp, made entirely of painted porcelain and showing no great resemblance to other porcelain lamps in its form. Moreover, it is probably completely authentically preserved in all its parts. That is the real value of this lamp besides its beauty, that it has really survived from that time without any changes.

The entire body of the lamp is made of porcelain that has been glazed in a light cream colour and then painted in several colours. The entire visible surface is painted with dragons, butterflies, flowers and leaves. It is interesting to note that all the golden borders and decorative lines are completely preserved; a great exception considering the age of the lamp! The dragon motifs are very similar to the Far Eastern dragons used as lucky charms. The painting style is also somewhat reminiscent of Zsolnay and Fischer ceramics from Hungary. The vase has a small broken area at the top, from which a hairline crack goes about 10 cm vertically down. Mr Kühnel was able to repair this crack and the broken edge very well.

The lamp has a Victoria burner by Stobwasser, which bears the logo of a dealer in Hanover (C. Schnath). The corresponding shoulder chimney is marked with the Stobwasser logo and the letter V. V stands for Victoria burner.

The old, satin-finished glass globe, deep-etched with fine floral motifs, completes the lamp beautifully.
