L.115

A beautiful, medium sized French pillar lamp consisting of dark green onyx marble parts and cast brass mounts. Interestingly, I got the base/column combination from the UK! Again, there was no font on it at first. However, a short time later I got a crystal font whose undermount thread fitted exactly into the counterpart of the column. Sometimes one is unexpectedly very lucky...

The lamp must have been electrified earlier. The thread of the column for the font undermount has a round hole through which an electric cable used to pass.

The colourless crystal font matches the style of the base, which has similar curved ornamentation. The ornamentation of the capital and the base of the column is reminiscent of columns in temples from the Pharaonic era.

Just a few days before, I had bought a beautiful Baccarat tulip shade on eBay France, which has a striking etched pattern. This tulip shade also fitted perfectly on this lamp. Later I used a good export burner from Hugo Schneider to further emphasise the "French flair" of the lamp.

In the end, a very beautiful lamp came into being. Especially the harmonious interaction of the column with the font surprised and delighted me. The result is a not spectacular, but very graceful and harmonious pillar lamp, of which I am proud with some justification, although it is not exactly very cheap due to the expensive individual parts.
