L.215

One of the smallest lamps in my collection, but still an eye-catcher, as it is very lavishly decorated and makes an unusual lamp with matching chimney and shade. This lamp for children's rooms must have been very popular in the UK, because I have seen it in slightly different flower arrangements several times on eBay.

The lamp body (which also functions as the font for kerosene/paraffin) is relatively plainly formed from square porcelain. The beauty of the lamp is its lush, fully sculptured floral ornamentation on its front. Some of the blossoms and branches had small damages, which were very well repaired by Mr Kühnel.

The coloured glass chimney, which was certainly an original part of the lamp, is interesting. The 2-line SLC burner also has the matching globe holder, but this caused a problem: I didn't have a matching tulip shade; and I couldn't find one despite searching all the eBay portals every day. The only tulip shade that fitted perfectly in terms of colour and shape was about 1 mm too wide at the bottom of the fitter and therefore did not fit into the globe holder. Then I decided to carefully grind down the fitter part of the tulip shade until it fitted into the globe holder. And this succeeded after very careful, lengthy grinding with glass grinders. This makes me very happy, because this tulip shade fits the lamp and the chimney as if it belonged to the lamp from the beginning...

In this complete condition, this miniature lamp is a wonderfully playful lamp that fits perfectly into my collection despite its mini size.
