L.133
A pretty, classic majolica lamp with the typical painting of stylised flowers. This type of painting is very common. The painting has a certain similarity to the painting style of Zsolnay or Ignác Fischer. Unfortunately, a correct attribution to a maker or a country cannot be made.
The vase and the font lid are painted with stylised flowers. The fine, golden decorative lines are very well preserved. The lamp generally shows a good state of preservation; it has probably been used very little. The burner also shows minor signs of use.
The burner with the logo of 8-cornered star was a mystery for a long time. The known wick knob collections gave contradictory manufacturers. On eBay, the same burner turned up several times, always with the same logo of 8-cornered star and with the same flame disc, marked "Royal burner 15’’’ Ia". The same burner came to me a second time by chance with a purchased lamp. The burner was completely defective, the flame disc I could save quite dented. But the good thing was: the back of the wick knob had the same writing "Kosmosbrenner" from later, cheap burners by Brökelmann, Jaeger & Busse! Since then I know the manufacturer.
The painted Vesta shade in a more modern form does not go very well with the lamp, as it has rather cold colours in the painting than the lamp itself. I left it with the lamp anyway, because this shade is a little smaller than the other Vesta shades and therefore fits the small lamp better.
