A rather conventional, but nevertheless lovely, attractive French lamp from the Art Nouveau period around 1910. Attractive because the base has a beautiful Art Nouveau motif, the column is made of marbled alabaster and the font has an appealing painting on a light green background.

But there is no light without shadow: When I unpacked the lamp, I discovered that one of the feet was freshly broken. Without further ado, I glued the broken foot back together very well with 2 pieces of brass and some Stabilit, after I had bent the bent parts to shape with pliers.

The zinc parts of the base I sanded, polished, primed with dark brown shoe polish and bronzed with gold wax (Laiton). I also bronzed the nickel-plated font collar.

A new, light amber-coloured Vesta shade, which I like very much for the colour alone, and a Kosmos burner with matching chimney have created a lamp with very pleasant light.

Cleaning and repairs:
The font collar is cemented again. The broken foot glued on with Stabilit; visible cast seams on the foot sanded off. Zinc castings and the collar primed with shoe polish and bronzed with gold wax (Laiton).

Lamp body:
Base of cast zinc, ornamental openwork Art Nouveau motif, on 4 feet, 15 x 15 cm, 1 foot broken and glued on.
Short column of marbled alabaster, beige-coloured, one crack visible, but not continuous.
Font of light green, frosted glass, painted flowers, Ø 144 mm, undermount thread 23 mm, removable. Font collar initially nickel-plated.

Burner:
14’’’ Kosmos burner of Brökelmann, Jaeger & Busse, Neheim.
Wick knob marked: Kosmos Brenner.
Flat wick 66 mm.

Glass chimney:
14’’’ Kosmos chimney. Height 248 mm, Ø fitter 51 mm.
Marked: Cristal Supérieur 14''' + crown in garland.

Shade and shade holder:
New Vesta shade, white milk glass overlaid in light amber, fluted top rim.
Height 153 mm, Ø fitter 185 and bulge 214 mm.
190 mm shade holder for 14’’’/15’’’ burners.

Lamp dimensions:
Height up to collar 21.0 cm, total height with chimney 49.5 cm.
Total weight 1950 g.
