L.085

A pleasing, small porcelain lamp from France, presumably from the same manufactory of the lamp L.144. Production probably 1910-1920.

The entire lamp is made of thick-walled porcelain modelled in a very pleasing shape. The vase has 2 small medallions with hand-painted flowers and butterflies that resemble small miniature paintings. Unusual is the continuous cassetting, which is based on Empire style. The diamond-shaped cassettes were initially decorated with thin gold lines, of which, however, nothing remained except for very small traces.

A short column sets on a classical foot, which merges into an elegant vase. All the porcelain (the seller described it as "Parisian porcelain") is beautifully modelled. The beautiful blue colour also adds to the charm of the lamp. The colourless, playful tulip shade made of embossed glass harmonises very well with the lamp.

The burner by A. Daveluy has a rare special feature: it can be used as a Kosmos burner as well as a flame disc burner. To convert it to a flame disc burner, you have to put on the separately available deflector as well as the flame disc. Of course, both types of burners need their respective chimney types (Kosmos or Matador chimney). So far, I am not aware of any other burner with this optional burner type possibility.
