L.053

A classic German glass lamp with a hand-painted Vesta shade. The lamp was offered for immediate sale on eBay in a rare complete condition. This is a lucky find, because complete lamps are quite rare. Here with this lamp I suspect that all parts are authentically old, i.e. the lamp is left in its original condition. Date of manufacture around 1900.

The classic base of alabaster coloured opal glass and the beautifully shaped font of clear green glass harmonise well with each other and with the shade. The Kosmos burner bears a logo that I have not found in any database that I know of; however, the back shows the manufacturer: Schuster & Baer.

The burner burns beautifully and still; the flame illuminates the Vesta shade very nicely and spreads a homely atmosphere.
