L.208
I was immediately fascinated by this elegant glass lamp because it had one of those extremely rare hand-painted tulip shades (probably German-made) that are now hard to find. To be honest, I bought the lamp because of this tulip shade. Since the eBay photos were simply taken from above at a very oblique angle, I thought that the seemingly huge size of the tulip was simply due to the parallax.
But then I realised that the tulip shade is actually very large. At 24.5 cm height, it is clearly a tulip shade for large hanging lamps. It is actually very oversized for the lamp. Therefore, this tulip shade went to a large column lamp (L.119), because there it is correctly sized. This lamp got a smaller tulip shade from France.
It is interesting that the glass font cannot simply be removed. It is somehow firmly placed in the vase. But the painting of the vase and the font are properly coordinated. They are painted with flowers at the front and at the back.
The burner is a W&W burner, made for Stübgen. The wick knob logo is the bat, probably one of the first designs; for this logo is not seen in the known logo collections. The back of the wick knob, however, has no decorative cord from W&W. I supplemented the missing chimney with a chimney from Switzerland.
