This lamp is my second porcelain lamp from Schierholz & Sohn manufactory in Plaue (Thuringia, Germany). It is the more common variant with three cherubs carrying the porcelain basket on their back. These lamps are available with different plant applications. Usually roses and rose leaves are placed between the putti as a decorative material. This lamp here is the rare version with three-dimensional beech branches with their leaves and beechnuts.

A beech leaf was missing from the lamp. The rest of the plant ornamentation was complete and undamaged. I had a replacement sheet made, painted and attached by Mr. Kühnel. The gold painting on the upper part of the basket has been rubbed off; it can hardly be seen anymore.

The burner supplied is the 10’’’ Wild & Wessel burner with the label "Made in Germany". On the burner the previously soldered shade holder was missing, which I added. A matching, old Vesta shade and a marked chimney completed the lamp.

Lamp body:
Lamp body made of painted porcelain (porcelain mark: Schierholz, Plaue). Round base, Ø 130 mm. There are 3 cherubs on it, carrying the white porcelain basket on their back. Three-dimensional beech branches with large leaves and beechnuts are attached to the basket. Lamp body Ø approx. 16 cm.
Porcelain basket is also the font.

Burner:
10’’’ Kosmos burner of Wild & Wessel, Berlin, for export, soldered to the shade holder.
Wick knob marked: W&W - Made in Germany. Backside with the decorative cord of W&W.
Wick tube marked: 10’’’ Kosmos.
Flat wick 47 mm.

Glass chimney:
10’’’ Kosmos chimney. Height 246 mm, Ø fitter 39 mm.
Marked: Prima Cristall - Kosmos-Cylinder 10’’’ in a circle.

Shade and shade holder:
Vesta shade, white milk glass, flat rolled top rim.
Height 141 mm, Ø fitter 189 and bulge 208 mm.
190 mm shade holder made of nickel-plated iron for 10’’’ burners, soldered to the burner.

Lamp dimensions:
Height up to collar 15.1 cm, total height with chimney 44.0 cm.
Total weight 1210 g.
