An imposing, beautifully painted and also opulent lamp by C.F.Kindermann in Berlin due to the almost matching painted Paris shade. The ceramic vase is marked at the bottom. Judging by the painting, the lamp was made around 1900-1910.

The vase is extensively painted with flower branches and with a butterfly. The Paris shade also has brightly painted flowers, but they do not match the vase.

I replaced the supplied cheap burner with an excellent 20’’’ Columbus burner from Kindermann, for which I fortunately also had the matching bottle-shaped chimney.

I had problems with the shade, whose fitter width measures 92 mm. The globe holder that came with it was homemade and so narrow (90 mm!) that the shade almost didn't fit into it. The shade actually needed a 95 mm globe holder, which I didn't have. So I used a 100 mm globe holder.

After cleaning and bronzing the cast zinc parts, the lamp shines anew!

Vase of painted ceramic, marked at the bottom: 8513, 29, 2576, Kindermann, Berlin. Vase collar of openwork, ornamental zinc casting, Ø 167 mm. In the vase an additional container made of zinc sheet.
Drop-in font of transparent, colourless glass, cemented under majolica lid (painting matching the vase; coloured brownish by kerosene/paraffin). Lid Ø 141 mm.

20’’’ Columbus burner of C.F.Kindermann, Berlin.
Wick knob marked: Logo of C.F.Kindermann. Wick knob back: C.F.K.&C.B (= C.F.Kindermann & Co. Berlin).
Original flame disc with flat disc on pin.
Flat wick 100 mm.

Glass chimney:
20’’’ bottle-shaped chimney. Height 287 mm, Ø fitter 63 mm.
Marked: 20''' Columbus-Cylinder.

Shade and shade holder:
Paris shade, white milk glass, transparent at the bottom, painted flowers, flat upper rim.
Height 168 mm, Ø fitter 92 and bulge 225 mm.
100 mm globe holder for 20’’’ burners.

Lamp dimensions:
Height up to collar 33.8 cm, total height with chimney 67.5 cm.
Total weight 3830 g.
