L.323

A high quality German lamp with the Meissen porcelain parts. I always wanted to own a Meissen lamp, but these lamps are very rarely offered and if a lamp turns up on eBay, the price goes up very quickly!

I was able to buy this lamp at auction because the vase was broken and glued. This enabled me to buy it at a relatively low price. With Mr Kühnel's repair, the breakages are hardly noticeable.

Another problem with the lamp was the completely unusual soldered self-made shade holder. A wide rimmed shade holder with 4 long brass rods had been soldered directly to the brass neck of the additional container. I had to desolder and remove the shade holder. I then filled the remaining holes with solder. Another problem was the fact that the porcelain foot part was about 1-2 mm wider than the metal base. Presumably the original base had had to be replaced. I had to grind the mounting ring wider for a long time until the porcelain base fitted in.

I was able to acquire a St. Louis ball shade with a beautiful leaf motif to go with this high-quality lamp. I then completed the lamp with a Gold burner and a marked Matador chimney.

This lamp is my only Meissen lamp that has regained its "dignity" after many repairs.
