A sweet lamp to fall in love with! An exceptional lamp in every respect, its porcelain body sits in a specially designed and made brass frame that has an elegantly shaped handle. This allows the lamp to be easily transported. The most eye-catching part is undoubtedly the lovely shade, which, in contrast to the strictly square lamp body, has an almost romantic playfulness, as it is not only beautifully painted, but also fluted and frilled.
The painting on both the vase and the shade is very masterfully executed. In addition to the beautiful floral arrangements, one side of the square vase is painted with a romantic genre scene depicting a couple in love in a rococo garden. The vase is signed at the bottom with a blue T and the X by Carl Thieme in Potschappel near Dresden. This manufactory still exists today under the name "Sächsische Porzellan-Manufaktur Dresden". Next to the signature, there is the embossed number 1880 (year or decor number?) and the letter Y.
The shade is held by a special shade carrier, which itself is fixed and held in place by a tight-fitting globe holder on the burner basket.

Base frame of thick brass wire, with handle, square on 4 feet, 9 x 9 cm.
Vase of white porcelain, square (7.2 x 7.2 cm), on 4 sides fine painting and golden ornamentation. Signed at the bottom: T X in blue (= Carl Thieme, Potschappel), 1880 and Y impressed.
The vase is also a font.
