This lamp from France caught my attention because of its glass font, made and painted by the Paris company Cristallerie de Pantin. In addition, the lamp body in the shape of a dragon was also quite extraordinary. Since all metal parts of the lamp body are made of cast iron, I assume that this lamp was originally an old candlestick that was later converted into a kerosene/paraffin lamp. This is also supported by the fact that candle remains were partly found in the recesses of the metal parts.

The base and column as well as the font undermount are made of finely cast and then bronzed cast iron. Only the spacer on the dragon's head is probably made of cast zinc (not magnetic). I suspect that this candlestick dates from the second half of the 19th century.

The glass font, on the other hand, is a little younger; probably from the end of the 19th century. It is a typical glasswork from the Parisian glass factory Pantin, which later merged with the Legras factory.

The finely etched tulip shade with its sparse colouring fits the lamp very well, as it harmonizes well with the colours and the style of the lamp.

Base and sculpture made of cast iron, in the form of a stylized dragon, with a handle. Square base on 4 feet, 9.5 x 9.5 cm. Marked under the base: a monogram in the coat of arms and the number 2.
Font made of etched and hand-painted glass by Pantin, Ø 129 mm. Font is removable.

Wick knob marked: Kosmos + 3 stars.
Flat wick 65 mm.

Glass chimney:
14’’’ Kosmos chimney. Height 248 mm, Ø fitter 52 mm.
Marked: Spécial Recuit Made in France 14’’’ + crown and garland.

Shade and shade holder:
Tulip shade, colourless glass, frosted, cameo-etched ornaments, painted in three colours, fluted and frilled top rim.
Height 137 mm, Ø fitter 66 and top rim 165 mm.
70 mm globe holder for 14’’’/15’’’ burners.

Lamp dimensions:
Height up to collar 28.4 cm, total height with chimney 56.8 cm.
